Assumption
Today is the feast of the Assumption.
It is a harvest feast day.
The blessing of fruits, herbs and flowers is on this day.
Traditionally, the priest would give a blessing of the harvest.
It is the day Mary, the most precious fruit, is taken up, body and soul, into heaven.
What better way to enjoy this feast day than a cold glass of iced tea.
Lemon and Mint Iced Tea
8 cups water
1/2/ cups white sugar
3 family style tea bags
3-4 sprigs of mint
1/2 cup lemon juice
Bring 2 cups of water to a boil. Add the sugar and boil until sugar dissolves. Add to 2 quart pitcher.
Add remaining 6 cups water to pot bring to boil. Add tea bags and mint and allow to steep for 10 minutes. Remove mint and tea. Add lemon juice, and add mixture to pitcher. Serve over ice. Garnish with mint sprigs if desired.
Peace be with you,
Veronica

I thought that was basil at first, too. Nice post. Never heard that allusion to blessing the harvest. Nice to know. (And so’s the mint tea.)
