Old Bay Boiled Peanuts

Boiled peanuts are a southern staple. Here in Virginia you can get them almost anywhere. They have roadside stands selling vegetables all along 58.

Here in Virginia there are dozens of places between Emporia and Suffolk that sell these delectable treats. We have peanut warehouses everywhere. We even have a planters peanut plant in Suffolk.

I personally love them with a cold beer or coke while watching a game. Some people think we should soak them to quick the cooking time. I have never tried that.

I love the taste of the old bay but some love the kick of Cajun seasonings instead of the old bay.

Old Bay Boiled Peanuts

Ingredients:

2-3 pounds green peanuts

1/2 cups of  Old Bay Seasoning

Water

Directions:

In a large stockpot add peanuts and Old Bay Seasoning. Add enough water to cover the peanuts.  Bring to a boil and simmer for 3 hours or until done. To test if they are done, crack one open and see if it is soft enough for your liking. If not continue to simmer until done.

Peace be with you,

Veronica
