Cinnamon Apple Sour Dough Waffles #brunchweek

These Sour Dough waffles are full of cinnamon and apple goodness. They are the perfect treat for #Brunchweek.

This post is sponsored in conjunction with #BrunchWeek. I received product samples from sponsor companies to aid in the creation of the #Brunchweek recipes. All opinions are mine alone.

I am so excited that it is #Brunchweek! This is my 4th year participating and I am really stoked to be sharing all the recipes of my fellow bloggers. I love the sense of community that #Brunchweek represents.

I wanted to do something with my Red Star Sour Dough Starter since I have some in the refrigerator. I love the tangy taste it gives a lot of breads and I thought it would be great to incorporate it into a pancake or waffle. Monkey Girl suggested waffle so waffles it is.

Sour Dough Waffles

1 cup grated Lady Alice apples from Rainier Fruit
2 cups flour
1 cup milk
1/2 cup sour dough starter
4 tablespoons Dixie Crystals brown sugar
1 teaspoon Nielsen-Massey Almond extract
1 teaspoon baking powder

Grate the apple and set aside.
In a large bowl combine flour, milk, starter, brown sugar, Almond Extract, baking powder and apple.
Spray Waffle Iron with non stick cooking spray.
Place the batter in the waffle iron, spreading with a spatula. Cook waffles to manufacturers instructions.
