Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk

If you have ever been in the middle of a recipe and find that you do not have sweetened condensed milk, this is your solution.

This recipe was made out of necessity. During the holidays I did a lot of baking. Cookies and such. I thought I had sweetened condensed milk in the cabinet and come to find out I did not. I used it for something else and totally forgot about it.

So there I am in the middle of a recipe. I know, I know, I should have put all my ingredients on the counter before I even started. That is what Mama taught me.

I thought for sure I had all the ingredients.

I digress.

This will do you  in a pinch if you make the same mistake I made.

The moral of this story is before you begin baking always have your ingredients out before you begin.

Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk

i cup powdered sugar
2/3 cups white sugar
1/3 cup boiling water
3 tablespoons melted butter

Combine all the ingredients in your kitchen aid mixer using the whip attachment. Mix for about 2 minutes or until everything is incorporated. Store in the refrigerator a week. If it separates, shake jar vigorously before using. This should equal the 14 ounce can used in most recipes.

Peace be with you,
