In Season Christmas
The Catholic Church now celebrates the season of Christmas.
Christmas is one of the most important days in the church year. It is second only to Easter.
The liturgical season of Christmas begins with the vigil masses on Christmas eve. Our church and home remain ornamented with Christmas lights and decorated until it concludes on the Feast of the Baptism of our Lord. Which this year happens to be January 12th.
It is represented with the color white which symbolizes purity and new life. It is a most appropriate color for new-born infants.
It is winter here in Virginia.
Tangerines and Mandarins are now in season. They are excellent to use to garnish and flavor all kinds of desserts. They are also used to make delicate sauces. This delectable citrus fruit was named after the Chinese imperial courts who once wore orange robes and hats.
